In memory of Buoy Salon’s founder Derek Elvy, every month Buoy hairstylists will visit our Inpatient Unit to pamper patients.
From haircuts to manicures, Buoy Salon is kindly providing their services to help make patients and their family/whānau feel special. We asked Sopheak Seng to tell us more about Buoy Salon and why they are giving back to Mary Potter Hospice.
Tell us a little bit about Buoy Salon.
Buoy has been the leading salon in Wellington for over 31 years. We have received many NZ Salon, NZ Hairdresser and NZ Spa of the Year Awards. Our team are at the top of their game delivering a consistently excellent service. Our team are also called upon by fashion houses and magazines to help create hair and makeup for their collections and publications.
Why does Buoy Salon want to give back to Mary Potter Hospice?
Mary Potter has continually given to our community and cared for Buoy’s founder Derek Elvy. The support, love and dedication the staff had to making sure Derek was comfortable was inspiring and humbling.
We want to help make the patients and their families/whānau get a little bit of Buoy brought to them to make them feel special, pampered and looked after just like Mary Potter Staff did for Derek.
What services will your team provide to Mary Potter Hospice patients?
Our team will visit patients and give trims, little massages, beard trims and blow dries … anything that we can do to make someone feel special in that moment.
What is the power of a great hair cut? Why is it always so uplifting?
A great haircut creates confidence. You feel more uplifted and stronger to face whatever the day has in store for you.
Thank you team Buoy for making our patients and their family/whānau feel extra special.
