From Monday 14 October 2019 and onwards, you may see Mary Potter Hospice fundraising representatives around Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.
Our representatives will be conducting face-to-face fundraising for our Starlight Circle. Face-to-face fundraising is an essential and highly effective part of our fundraising programme which helps us find new supporters. This style of fundraising provides people the opportunity to talk directly to a representative of Mary Potter Hospice, giving them access to information about how we operate and how their funds will be used to help people with life-limiting illnesses in our community.
You may find our representatives:
At private sites
Private site fundraising is where our teams will visit a variety of locations such as shopping centres or supermarkets. These teams will set up a Mary Potter Hospice stand to work from and the team will be engaging with people to provide them with information about the Hospice and sign up supporters to donate.
Doing street fundraising
Our street fundraisers work in teams in suburbs and in town centres to talk to members of the public about Mary Potter Hospice and ask them to sign up to support us.
About our fundraisers
Our teams of fundraisers are highly trained and enthusiastic individuals. They are dedicated to raising money and building awareness of our commitment to ensuring every person in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti has access to Hospice care. We are committed to ensuring that our fundraisers offer a positive experience to the public when interacting with them, and are friendly, professional and helpful.
We are a member of the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand. All of our fundraisers follow the code of conduct set out by the PFRA. The Mary Potter Hospice Foundation is a registered charitable entity in terms of the Charities Act 2005. Registered Charity CC30221.
How to recognise a Mary Potter Hospice fundraiser
All of our fundraisers will be wearing a white tabard with the Mary Potter Hospice logo and have an ID badge with the fundraiser’s name, photo and ID number. They will never ask for, or accept, a cash donation. They will be working from an iPad and carrying Mary Potter Hospice’s Starlight Circle literature with them.
