The Board of Mary Potter Hospice is very pleased to announce that the new Patron of the hospice is Kerry Prendergast.
She replaced Lady Susan Satyanand, who served a four-year term, at the annual meeting of Mary Potter Hospice on 26 October 2017.
“I am delighted to take on the role of Patron,” said Ms Prendergast. “Mary Potter Hospice has served the people of Wellington well over many years. I’m very keen to do my bit to support the organisation and the patients who use it.”
Ms Prendergast has experience in the health system as a midwife and a bereavement counsellor, and feels a strong affinity to the work of the Hospice.
Hospice chair Mark Cassidy said the Board is grateful to Lady Susan Satyanand for her support of the Hospice.
“I want to give my sincere thanks to Lady Susan Satyanand for four year of amazingly generous commitment to the Hospice. She has been particularly passionate about volunteering. At the hospice, we rely so heavily on our 600 or so volunteers to help us provide our essential services. So we have had a great partnership with Lady Susan,” said Mr Cassidy.
‘We’re excited about having Kerry as our new Patron. She is truly committed to Wellington and I know she is determined to do what she can to help the Hospice remain a sustainable service into the future.” Ms Prendergast is currently Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority, Tourism New Zealand, and New Zealand Film Commission.
She is a Director of Oceania Healthcare, Compass Health PHO, NZ Conservation Authority and NZ China Council, and a Trustee of the New Zealand Community Trust, National Army Museum, the Wellington Free Ambulance Board and the Victoria Foundation. Kerry is also a Board member of the Phoenix Football Club and the NZ-US Council Advisory Board.
