We currently have vacancies for Volunteer Day Unit Drivers in Porirua and Kāpiti. Our volunteer drivers are a valuable part in the Day Unit Hospice service providing safe transport for Mary Potter Hospice patients to and from the Day Unit and their homes.
Roger has been a volunteer driver in Kāpiti for about seven years and got involved when a good friend mentioned that he would be away for a couple of months and wouldn’t be able to do his regular Hospice driving.
“For me being a volunteer is a privilege, as I interact with so many interesting people. The folk I pick up or take home all have their stories to tell and I enjoy their company and conversation. We always find we have common ground and plenty to talk about”.
“I appreciate being part of the wider Mary Potter team and look forward to seeing the staff and other volunteers each Tuesday. Linda Miller, and the others involved in the respite day at the Kapiti base, have wonderful rapport with the patients and run very interesting programmes. It is an honour to be able to play a small part in the many superb services provided by the Mary Potter Hospice”.
