Child Protection Policy

Purpose
The Children’s Act 2014 (The Act) came into effect in 2014. The Act requires providers of services to children, or services to adults with respect to children, to have a Children’s Worker Safety Check and Child Protection Policy in place.  This policy outlines the requirements for safety checks and the steps Mary Potter Hospice will undertake to ensure children are safe.  The clinical workforce must be alert to the signs and symptoms of neglect or abuse and take appropriate action to protect the wellbeing and safety of children and young people, whether they are directly or indirectly a client/patient of the service.

Scope
This policy applies to all of the clinical workforce i.e. employees, contractors, students and volunteers.
