This Mini-Masterclass has been designed for health professionals working with palliative patients and family/whānau/aiga.
This workshop is led by our Physicians in collaboration with Jo Graham, physiotherapist at Mary Potter Hospice.
We will use a case based learning model to look at the management of respiratory issues in palliative care. The sessions will include assessment and management of breathlessness. .
An end of life pathway will be discussed as a tool for guiding care in the last days of life.
The day has been designed for health professionals working with palliative patients and family/whānau/aiga.
- To manage breathlessness at end of life.
- To understand dyspnoea and effective use of pharmacological intervention.
- To learn techniques to ease fatigue and maximise airflow.
- To manage stress through non-pharmacological means through breathing techniques, music, massage, acupuncture and other therapies.
