Please help us to provide care that’s always there and give generously this Annual Appeal.
As we face these challenging times together, we must focus on what’s most important in life. Family, aroha and support.
Mary Potter Hospice is here to provide free-of-charge compassionate and quality palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families in our community. On any given day, our services touch the lives of around 250 husbands and wives, sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, whānau and friends, neighbours and colleagues in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.
We are facing many challenges in these changing times. But some things don’t change: our support for our patients is just as caring, as competent and as compassionate as it has always been. It’s our mission and our commitment to provide care that’s always there.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Mary Potter Hospice doctors like Dr Rebekah, have been caring for patients via Telehealth, our counsellors like Viviana have provided support in new ways and our community nurses like Shaun continue to care for members of our community like John and his family.
This year we need to fundraise $7 million to ensure our services remain free-of-charge for our patients and their families. Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to postpone our fundraising events and have temporarily closed our Hospice shops. This has had a devastating impact on our income and we need your support now more than ever. We depend on our community, as only half of the funding we need comes from Government.
Can you please help us to provide care that’s always there?
We are feeling very grateful at this time that we have a number of monthly givers. By making a regular donation you help us to budget, expand our services and continue to provide care that’s always there. Will you consider making a regular gift during our 2020 Annual Appeal?
Mary Potter Hospice has been your hospice for over 40 years. It’s thanks to you, and the incredible support of our community, that we’re able to continue to provide our services free of charge.
Mary Potter Hospice has a twelve-bed Inpatient Unit in Newtown, and community bases in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti which provide day hospice services and community support. We care for over 850 patients and their families or whānau each year, and provide wrap around support in the most difficult of times. Most of our patients choose to stay at home, so that’s where our teams of community doctors, nurses, counsellors and therapists provide their care.
Each year, demand for our services increases, so we really need your support to be able to continue providing our free palliative care services for the people of Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti for years to come.
Whether you’re donating in memory of a loved one, in appreciation of hospice care, or simply because you believe in the work we do – thank you. It’s people like you that make our work possible.
