Newtown vacancies

Fundraising Volunteer Vacancy – Collection Box Project Coordinator – We are looking for a confident organiser to oversee our Collection Box Area Coordinators and our collection boxes placed in over 100 shops and businesses throughout Kapiti, Porirua and Wellington.

Fundraising Volunteer Vacancy – Annual Appeal Area Coordinators – Are you interested in supporting the Hospices fundraising efforts?

We are looking for confident organisers to oversee our volunteer collectors leading up to and on the collection days (18 – 19 May 2018) throughout Kapiti, Porirua and Wellington. These are temporary roles and ideal for someone seeking project work. We have vacancies to cover collectors around Kapiti, Thorndon, and Lambton Quay.

Commitment – 3 months commencing from mid-March through to 19th May 2018 – approximately 5 hours per week. Street Collection Days – Friday 18th & Saturday 19th May – 8 hours per day.

Volunteer Vacancies  On Call Play Supporter – Newtown Day Unit

We currently have 3 vacancies available.

Role Responsibilities
You will play a valuable part in our Inpatient Unit supporting parents/caregivers by setting up play activity for the children and being supportive with the children’s play.

Your tasks will include:

  • Making children feel welcome
  • Setting up toys/games, art materials as required
  • Assisting with various activities, including arts, crafts and games
  • Ensuring child safety at all times
  • From time-to-time there may be general duties such as preparation or sorting of materials for activities

Person Requirements:

  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport and help people feel at ease
  • Dependable, diligent and patient
  • Awareness of development differences with children
  • Interest in creative activities and games to assist children
  • Remains calm in tense or pressured situations

Commitment: 2-3 hours per week.  May vary according to needs

Volunteer Vacancy – Play Space & Sensory Garden Care – Newtown

Role Responsibilities
You will play a valuable part in our Inpatient Unit (IPU) ensuring that the play space and garden area is a pleasant social area.

Your tasks will include:

  • Keeping the play space clean and tidy
  • Ensuring that the IPU play/art are well resourced and maintained
  • Keeping the garden well maintained and tidy

Person Requirements

  • Everyday general hygiene and cleaning skills
  • Have some garden knowledge
  • Assisting in maintaining a pleasant social space
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport and help people feel at ease
  • Interest in creative activities and games to assist children
  • Dependable, diligent and patient

Commitment: Approximately 1 – 2 hours per week

Retail vacancies

Volunteer Vacancy Truck Hand Retail – play a vital role in our Retail Logistics Team as a Truck Hand. Minimum 7.5 hours per week between Monday – Saturday 8.30am – 4pm, working out of our Porirua Retail Distribution Centre. Multiple vacancies available across 16 shifts.
