Mary Potter Hospice is seeking to appoint a second Māori Liaison. The role offers support to Māori patients and whānau, and is an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team. Providing support to all staff and volunteers, the role increases awareness with te iwi Māori and Māori communities of Mary Potter Hospice and available palliative care services.
This role will involve extensive liaison with a wide range of people in various settings and requires excellent whanaungatanga and communication skills. Understanding of, and ability to demonstrate kawa and tikanga with whānau is important to the success of this role. You should have an understanding of the health and Palliative Care sectors.
This is a unique role for a unique individual with a commitment to supporting Māori patients and whānau at this tender time.
We offer the chance to develop your expertise; we have a comprehensive education programme; the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced multi-disciplinary teams, in an environment that lets you make a difference.
We need you to have a relevant qualification in health or social services, and/or Māori studies, and/or education.
Mary Potter Hospice provides free palliative care for the people of the Wellington Region. We have an Inpatient Unit, and a strong Community team. We take a multi-disciplinary approach in order to provide holistic care for whānau.
Our core values of Mana, Aroha, Rangatiratanga, Manaakitanga and Kaitiakitanga are very important to us and we apply these to the people who work here as much as our patients and whānau.
