Mary Potter Hospice provides free palliative care for the people of the Wellington Region. We have a 12 bedded Inpatient Unit, and a strong Community Team. We take a multi-disciplinary approach in order to provide holistic care for our patients and their families.
We are currently recruiting for a Medical Consultant in Palliative Care with excellent communication skills to join our growing medical team working in the community.
This varied role comprises assisting the teams with triage, initial assessments, care planning for complex scenarios, day service clinics, and visits to patient’s homes. You will provide backup for the In-patient Unit and the Hospice after hours service. As a consultant, you will also be involved with the education and support for primary care providers and medical students, and contribute to the Hospice education programme and the training of Junior Doctors.
Our core values of Mana/Respect, Aroha/Compassion, Rangatiratanga/Dignity, Manaakitanga/Hospitality and Kaitiakitanga/Stewardship are very important to us and we apply these to the people who work here as much as our patients and whānau. We are committed to our staff wellness and offer free flu vaccination, EAP services, and wellness incentives in a relaxed and welcoming work environment.
If you want to contribute in a substantial way to the future of Mary Potter Hospice and palliative care in New Zealand, we would love to talk with you further.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a Ministry of Justice criminal records check, the results of which must be to Mary Potter Hospice’s satisfaction. Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid work visa.
Please send your application including a cover letter, CV and Mary Potter Hospice application form to Catherine Hart, Executive PA, PO Box 7442, Newtown, Wellington 6242 or email email@example.com
