Mary Potter Hospice has a team of doctors, led by specialist palliative care consultants, who provide medical support to patients and their families.

IMG_2547This includes a 24-hour service for the In-Patient Unit in Newtown, as well as outpatient clinics and a home-visiting service.

The GP remains the patient’s day-to-day doctor in the community and they can ask a Hospice doctor to visit if needed. Our doctors maintain close contact with GPs and hospital specialists to ensure as much continuity in medical care as possible.

In addition to their work with patients and families, Hospice doctors are also involved in teaching other healthcare workers about palliative care, training future specialists in general practice and palliative medicine and research.
