Hospice Appeal 2024

May 9th, 2024

Help us be there for patients, families and whānau when and where they need Hospice care. Please help your local Hospice and support Mary Potter’s Appeal this May.

On Thursday 16 and Saturday 18 May there’ll be close to a thousand volunteers wearing Mary Potter Hospice bibs and holding collection buckets across the streets of Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti. And behind each bucket is a story – perhaps of someone loved and lost, perhaps of a Mary Potter Hospice Nurse’s compassion or simply of a desire to help people at the most difficult of times.

Help us be there for local families. Please donate when you see us on the streets (EFTPOS is available), or donate today.

Thanks to your help, every year we’re able to care for over 840 husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, whānau, partners, friends, neighbours and colleagues in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.

Like everyone else, Mary Potter Hospice is feeling the pressure of the cost-of-living crisis. In the last 12 months, our expenses have increased by 10%, with some critical medical supplies increasing by over 20%.

Right now, one in four people who die in the Wellington region are supported by Mary Potter – meaning there’s a critical need for our quality services. But with government funding covering only half of the $16 million needed to keep our services free, we rely on the generosity of committed supporters to sustain our vital work.

Your generosity ensures that our care is always there – when and where our patients need it most.

Please help your local Hospice and support Mary Potter’s Appeal this May.
