Help us be there for patients, families and whānau when and where they need Hospice care. Please help your local Hospice and support Mary Potter’s Appeal this May.
On Thursday 18 and Saturday 20 May there’ll be close to a thousand volunteers wearing Mary Potter Hospice bibs and holding collection buckets across the streets of Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti. And behind each bib and bucket is a story – perhaps of someone loved and lost, perhaps of a Mary Potter Hospice Nurse’s compassion or simply of a desire to help people at the most difficult of times.
Help us be there for local families. Please donate when you see us on the streets (EFTPOS is available), or donate today.
Thanks to your help, every year we’re able to care for over 840 husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, whānau, partners, friends, neighbours and colleagues in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.
But demand for our service is growing, particularly for our community and home-based Hospice care. More and more of our patients wish to be cared for in a familiar environment, surrounded by the people and the things they love, in the comfort of the place they call home.
While the care and support we provide is free-of-charge to our patients, it does cost us to provide it. Only 49% of the funding we need comes from Government, and since the disestablishment of the DHBs last July, it is still unclear what level of funding will be provided to the Hospice in the future.
That’s why we need your help now. We rely on the generosity of people like you to ensure that our care is always there – when and where our patients need it most.
Please help your local Hospice and support Mary Potter’s Appeal this May.
