Gift in Will

Leave a Gift in Your Will to Mary Potter Hospice

Peace of mind today. Compassionate care for future generations.

Looking after the people you love starts with having a Will.

Many of us put off writing a Will. Life gets busy, and it is easy to think there is always more time. But having a Will in place brings peace of mind. It means your wishes are clear, the people you love are looked after, and important decisions have already been made.

After you have provided for your family and friends, you may choose to leave a gift in your Will to Mary Potter Hospice.

It is a personal decision, but one that can help ensure compassionate hospice care continues for future generations across Wellington, Porirua, and Kāpiti.

A gift in your Will, whether large or small, helps people living with a life-limiting illness receive specialist palliative care, comfort, and dignity surrounded by the people they love.

How your gift helps future families

Each year, it costs around $16 million to provide Mary Potter Hospice services to patients and their families. The Government funds less than half of this. The remainder is made possible through the generosity of our community, including donations, fundraising, Hospice Shops, and gifts in Wills.

On any given day, around 300 patients and their families receive care free of charge.

Today, around 1 in 7 people in our care are supported because someone chose to remember Mary Potter Hospice in their Will.

Your gift helps ensure this care continues for future generations, so that other families can receive the same comfort, dignity, and support when they need it most.

Why leave a gift in your Will?

Leaving a gift in your Will is a way to look after the people and causes that matter most to you, in the way you choose.

For many people, this begins with family. Your first priority will always be the people you love and making sure they are provided for.

Once that is in place, your Will can also reflect the values that have guided your life. It can be a way of giving something meaningful back to your community, through a cause that has supported others when they needed it most.

A gift in your Will to Mary Potter Hospice helps ensure that people across Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti can continue to receive specialist palliative care, comfort, and support at the end of life, regardless of their circumstances.

This kind of gift is often called a legacy gift or a charitable bequest, but at its heart it is simply a personal decision about care, connection, and what matters to you.

Many people find comfort in knowing that their Will reflects both their family and the wider community they are part of.

Peace of mind today. Compassionate care for future generations.
