This International Volunteer Managers Day, we’re shining a light on the wonderful people who bring our Hospice volunteers together.
Volunteers are at the heart of Mary Potter Hospice, giving their time, skills and kindness to support our patients, whānau and wider community. But behind every great team of volunteers are the people who guide, encourage and support them.
On 5 November, International Volunteer Managers Day, we’re celebrating our 48 dedicated Leaders of Volunteers, who help make it all possible.
Together, they support more than 650 volunteers across 34 different roles and 12 locations, helping ensure our volunteers feel welcomed, valued and confident in the difference they’re making.
From our Hospice Shops and Day Units to the many other areas where volunteers lend a hand, our Leaders of Volunteers play an essential role in bringing people and purpose together.
Peter Sewell, Director Retail at Mary Potter Hospice, says:
“Our Leaders of Volunteers are a wonderful group of people who provide guidance to a very important part of the hospice – our volunteers.”
Whether it’s welcoming someone new, providing training or simply being there to offer guidance, their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout the Hospice.
They’re the glue that keeps our Hospice and its volunteers working positively together.
International Volunteer Managers Day is a global celebration recognising the dedication and leadership of the people who make volunteering possible.
To all 48 of our wonderful Leaders of Volunteers, thank you for your commitment, care and everything you do to support our volunteers and the communities we serve.
We couldn’t do what we do without you!
