Mural at Mary Potter Hospice Newtown complete

February 27th, 2017

Sheyne Tuffery, a well-known local artist here in Wellington, has now completed this striking mural on the Mary Potter Hospice Mein Street external wall. The mural recognises Newtown’s long and fascinating history, which the Hospice has been a part of since 1979 when it operated from Calvary Hospital.

Sheyne’s design recognises the importance of our strong connection with the Newtown community. The current Hospice land was purchased in 1989 and building began the following year.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Sheyne Tuffery who has done a great job translating this link into an amazing artwork for everyone to enjoy. My thanks to him, and to Resene Paints for the donation of the paint. Also to the generous donor who contributed to the cost of the mural.”                                                                                          Ria Earp, Chief Executive
