Biography service

biography service for patients who would like to have their life story recorded.

Mary Potter Hospice provides a biography service for patients who would like to have their life story recorded.

Our biography service is free-of-charge and is provided by trained Volunteer Biographers. Your confidentiality is assured. Patients can record memories from their life or may wish to write letters to specific people in their family or whānau. Photos can be included and the biography can be as short or as long as you would like it to be.

A Volunteer Biographer can make home visits or meet with patients at one of our Hospice bases in Newtown, Porirua or Kāpiti. The biographer is available for six sessions which are up to an hour each. The final approved biography will be presented as a bound copy, as well as a copy of the transcript on a memory stick. Voice recordings are not available.

If you would like more information about our biography service, please speak to a Hospice staff member.

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Biographer please contact volunteer@marypotter.org.nz.
