Counselling
Mary Potter Hospice offers a free-of-charge counselling service for patients and their family/whānau.
This can provide the opportunity to validate, reflect on and make meaning of the changes that are happening to you and your whānau.
Counselling can support you and others important to you, allowing for thoughts, feelings and responses to grief and loss to be explored and understood. It can support challenging conversations about death and dying.
Our counsellors can provide support throughout the time of illness, death and dying.
They are also able to offer family / whānau six sessions of bereavement support which is then reviewed with a potential for longer if capacity allows and it’s agreed appropriate.
Our counsellors are fully trained and abide by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or the Psychotherapy Board of Aotearoa New Zealand Code of Ethics.
